Preserving Our Democratic Dignity” – ADC Governorship Aspirant Otunba Olumuyiwa Babalola Meets with Former President Obasanjo

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) Governorship Aspirant for Ekiti State, Otunba Olumuyiwa Babalola, has visited former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, in Abeokuta, reaffirming his belief that Nigeria’s democracy must be built on mutual respect, justice, and the protection of national heritage.

“Ile la ti n ko eso re ode – the strength you take outside is built at home,” Babalola said. “Chief Obasanjo is a chapter in Nigeria’s democratic story that must be read with honor, not controversy. We may have different political views, but we must agree on fairness and respect for all leaders, past and present.”

Babalola called on Nigerians to unite across political lines to strengthen the credibility of national institutions, emphasizing that democracy depends on trust, transparency, and impartiality.

He stressed that political disagreements must never erode Nigeria’s culture of respect for elder statesmen, describing Obasanjo as “a pillar of democratic history whose voice is vital for national balance.” He called on Nigerians to reject any form of politically motivated intimidation.

“Our democracy is only as strong as the fairness of those who guard it,” he concluded.
